Overview

Perplexity provides web-search-augmented AI completions. Its models can retrieve live information from the internet, making it well suited for research, fact-checking, and knowledge retrieval tasks.

Authentication

API Key via Secure Vault. Add your Perplexity API key in the credential configuration modal.

Key parameters:

  • Model — select which Perplexity model to use (e.g., sonar, sonar-pro)
  • Prompt — the user message or question
  • System Message — optional instructions for the model
  • Temperature — controls response randomness (0 = deterministic, 2 = creative)
  • Max Tokens — maximum response length
  • Top P — nucleus sampling parameter

Tips

  • Perplexity models automatically search the web. You do not need to add search instructions in your prompt.
  • Use lower temperature values for factual research queries and higher values for creative tasks.
  • The sonar models are optimized for fast search-augmented responses.
